Waves

Our Brookings, Oregon home is on the southern coast, and we are lucky to have great weather variations, from perfect sun to very severe storms. We often have huge waves, with or without storms.
We have a great Coast Guard station here, and they go out several times a day  to assess conditions, and issue reports, or practice rescues. These are 47-foot boats.
Taken from our deck. The rocky area is part of the jetty protecting  the harbor entrance.

What a lovely view you have, Sandy - very envious !!  Like both shots - the first especially with the rocks in the fg.  The overall cool greys give a nice feel of the blustery day.

Sandy,
I also like the first of these two interesting images, there is a better view of the two Coast Guard 47 ft MLB's (a remarkable vessel, see more - HERE).
As Ian mentioned, the wider angle image seems to benefit from the foreground Jetty.
No one is more envious of the view off your deck than I,
Thanks for sharing . . . cool

Sandy: the boats in the big waves, the misty air and the layers in the background all add up to an excellent photo. I like the first just as much when I cropped the jetty by scrolling. The second one, with the boats cutting through the waves is more powerful. Richard

I like the action that is depicted in this image. I was in the Coast Guard and was also out in some bad seas in a small boat.

One heck of a view from your deck! I prefer the first and I like the suggestion to crop the jetty. Very dyanmic image. It looks like fun being out there on those boats.

Did crop the jetty at first, but then was very unbalanced if I left the blue mountains at the top, which i wanted to do.
