Beauty Creek, Jasper NP

A person we met on a raft ride mentioned Beauty Creek as a very nice hike. Darwin Wiggett mentioned it in his Canadian Rockies guide book but he didn't give it a whole lot of space so I had few expectations. It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable hikes I've done anywhere, not just in the Canadian Rockies. We only came across a handful of other hikers, the overcast skies allowed me to shoot the creek almost the entire time we were exploring, and it seemed like a more compelling scene was around every bend. I liked this particular spot for the falls and the textures in the rocks and flora lining the watercourse. Please see large. All comments welcome.>=))>

Really like the subdued colors; they work well with the rather delicate waterfall and that bluish glacial tint in the water. I don't know what you think about trying to bring out that standing tree a little so it merges less with the rock.  It seems like that might add a nice note but regardless and very fresh and peaceful air to this image.

An amazing interplay of the fall and the rocks tome, Bill. I especially appreciate your choice of shutter speed and the details you keep of the flow.

Bill, this is a beauty. Perfect SS to make the water milky, yet still retain detail.
IMO, the small  log in the lower left could go, as it draws my eye from the lovely falls. I yearn to see more of the water at the bottom too, if possible.
Sounds like a very rewarding trip!

This must be viewed large to really appreciate all the details in this lovely scene, Bill. Your SS choice has created some wonderful textures in the water below the falls. Did you happen to get any comps with the falls moved a bit more to the left as I could also see the working as well. My only other suggestion; and this is just a personal preference; would be to clone out the log in the LLC. It looks like you had a great trip.

Bill, I agree with Sandy about wanting to see more water at the bottom, but a beautiful photo none the less!

I don't recall ever seeing a photo of this waterfall before, Bill. Excellent image of it. I like your comp and your chosen ss. Very cool effect on the water at the bottom of the falls.

Superb textures in the rocks, Bill ( especially in the large version ) and a nice contrast between them and the softness of the water.  Beautifully composed.
