Canon EOS 7D EF400mm f/5.6L USM
1/1000 sec;   f/7.1;   ISO 640
Manual;   Spot metering
LR5, PS6, Topaz DeNoise, Topaz Detail, lightened bird, only 35% of original

Is there enough detail left?  The perch looks almost like metal, but it's part of a dead tree.

The head of the Phoebe may still be too dark and hard to distinguish.  I won't know until I post it.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Cute little bird, in a nice pose!
The head does seem quite dark. I sometimes  post a picture, look at the largest version right away, and see something is not quite right. I delete it, work on it a bit more, and then re-post.
You can delete it as long as there are no comments yet.
I'd suggest drawing a selection around the bird only, and lightening the whole bird, as well as increasing the yellow saturation.
The stump is fine, I think.
Nice catch!

A very pleasing take Barbara of this sweet little bird. Overall I’d say there is plenty of detail but the head could be lightened – initially I had to search for the eye. Yes, the perch looks flat and rather metallic. Try adding graduated shading to the right side a to give greater 3d impact – the almost metallic aspect invokes added interest, it’s fine the way it is. The crop ratio is OK but needs to be a tad tighter. David

Hi Barbara.  The detail looks adequate for posting, even in the larger image.  I think you could go up on the brightness of the Phoebe a little bit.  I love the preening pose.

Looks pretty good for iso 640 and only a 35% of original crop.  I think you could lighten this up with light room or Photoshop fairly easily without losing detail.
