I love how he/she has the twig perfectly balanced by gently holding  the tiny side-branch. (Please see the large version)

Must check the larger version out.  It is so much better (sharpness) than the small one.  Great in flight position, action and detail in this egret.  No nits here.

As already mentioned, the larger version is a must-see image.

But as has been discussed before, the color is different between the small and large versions, and I again suspect the color profiles that may or may not be embedded in the images. The large version has an embedded color profile of Adobe RGB, so only those people with an OS and browser that is color aware will display the image properly.

I haven't checked the small image profile but suspect it is either sRGB or no color profile at all.

You can control this by:

1. converting from Adobe RGB to sRGB before you save any jpegs for uploading

2. saving your jpeg images with an embedded color profile

3. making your own 1600 pixel and 720 pixel jpegs on your own computer and uploading both of them, instead of relying on the NPN magic process that makes small versions for a single large upload.

I've included a window from Art Directors Toolkit - a great app that lets me sample colors on screen among many other things. I've sampled thr sky blue in the upper left corner and the rusty plume at the trailing edge of the wing in both large and small versions. Note that the duller versinos in the boxes along the bottom of both blue and rust come from the small image, while the brighter samples are from the large version.

Beautiful wing position that lends itself to a lovely overall composition, Sandy.  Well done.

Richard - thanks so much for this and the time you took in adding this. I m drowning, as usual, with elderly care (mother died last year, stepmother last month, and now we have moved 96 yr old fragile-diabetic father here from florida. )

BUT  I will check all your info asap and update stuff as i can. .

I'm sure your assessment is correct. thanks again!

Lovely shot, Sandy. I think Richard has it right, and when time permits, I urge adjusting your posting process. My sympathies on your father. It's never easy.

Fine image, Sandy.  The detail and breeding colors are nice, and the twig is a bonus.

This is a very nice composition Sandy.  The colors are pleasing.  Sharpness in the large version is much better.  I really like what I see.

This is absolutely gorgeous, Sandy!  The large version is definitely required viewing and I agree with the others that saving the display size file as an sRGB jpeg before posting should take care of the color changing issues.  Your exposure and focus on this shot are perfect and the delicately carried branch is a very nice bonus that adds a lot of extra interest. devildevil
