Liquid Gold

Another image from the Yosemite trip a week ago, a reflection of afternoon light from a big wall on a creek.

D810, 70-200mm

For some reason, the colors seem oversaturated in the small version. Strange. So please have a look at the large.

This is beautifully done, Harley. Your SS choice has created some wonderful water action and the reflected light is gorgeous. Great eye to spot this intimate scene.

Very effective and engaging image, Harley.  Sort of real and abstract at the same time.

Excellent combination of textures, color, and pattern, Harley. I especially like the texture in the water. Nicely seen and photographed.

Another beauty Harley.  You are really adept at finding and executing these intimate images.  Love the color combo and sweet texture.

This is just gorgeously beautiful Harley. The combination of flow, reflected color and texture in the water is, well, just beautiful.  I love this image.

For an alternative suggestion, you could play with the color and turn the reflected autumn colors more yellow/gold rather than leaning a little red.  But that's just a subjective preference anyway and doesn't change that I love this one.   Great job isolating this comp.

Lon

edit: rethinking my color comments.  I realize that the reflection might not be from aspen, cottonwood or some yellow autumn color, but from the granite walls between Yosemite Falls and Royal Arch.... so the late afternoon could be warmer, more red than yellow...  although I'll stand by my subjective stance... ;-)  Wish it were mine Mr. H.!

lovely forms and textures here - but all the interest is in the lower half of the frame: i'd consider chopping off the top (maybe just below the white of the rapid on the right)??

What a wonderful image, Harley. It truly is a large eye draw when viewing the NPN page here. The image as presented has a look or feel of film grain. In this scene a very positive item IMO. No thoughts of change for me, just print and hang it......devil

This works for me, Harley. Given the warm afternoon light I think the color looks quite nice. The big walls in The Valley are one of nature's greatest fill light reflectors and this shows that very well. I also like the white water and the curves in the stream. Nicely done!

For me the subject looks metallic and no longer looks or feels like water. In that sense it's a true abstract in that it suggests something different than what it is. In fact, it doesn't feel part of the natural world. So for me at least it's best to go in that direction and try to react to it where it takes you.  A very interesting and creative image.

A delightful moving water abstract, Harley.  I see brighter eyes and a dark nose in the lower left...you were being watched.

Liquid gold beyond a doubt.  One jaw dropping image, Harley.  The texture and detail you achieved in the water is stunning, andwith your compisition with the subtle diagonal, and then that gold ...... Could not be better.  I would not change a thing.

Interesting semi abstract, nice vision!  Colors are great, though on my screen both seemed equally saturated and contrasty.

There's just enough and focus here to give a reference point.  The motion in this along with the colors and shadows is just amazing.  A very cool image.
