Just returned from my annual trip to the Bosque.  I ran into Keith Bauer who was there doing a workshop for the festival of the cranes.  I recently bought the Panasonic Leica DG 100-400 and shot a few on my trip earlier this week.  Jury is still out on the lens, but I think I'll like it for its optical quality and light weight.  These two males posed for me in a pond near the flight deck.  Handheld from car window, cropped to about 75% of original.

The feather detail is wonderful and there is just enough separation between the two to make them quite interesting. My only suggestion would be to lighten the front duck's head slightly to bring out some additional detail. devil

Nice lineup and a good job on the dof, Bill.  I like your choice of framing.  I look forward to seeing more of your Bosque trip.

Very nice to be able to get to this far apart and focus.  These are beautiful ducks.  They have incredible markings and a really fine shape.  This image has a very good detail.  Tough to take pictures of ducks from a car because you are generally higher than optimum.

Very nice, Bill!  Excellent exposure.  I know how hard it is to capture black eyes on a black head and you certainly did it with this shot!
