Great Egret & Repost

Another of these from Florida this past March.  This was late afternoon and the wooded area behind was in fairly deep shade.  I tried to maintain that feel in the processing.

7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 451 mm, hand held from boat, f/6.3, 1/2000, iso 500, manual exposure.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to a 16 MP 4x5.  Taken at 4:54 PM on March 28th.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

I like the overall look from the dark background. IT adds a sense of mystery to the image.

Dennis,

I like this type of images where a bright object is in front of dark or shaded areas. It lets the subject pop out much stronger and that is what I like about the image devil

Nice how the bird stands out so well from the dark BG.
Fine image!

Nice job on the exposure.  I like the perch and pose, but the darker background really makes the image for me.  Consider darkening or cloning out the background twig emerging from the head?

Here's a version with the stick through the head removed.

Always tricky with that much shade, but this one came out very, very well. Nice pose and composition, Dennis ! Cheers, Hans

This turned out really nice with the dark background.  The egret really pops nicely.  The repost is an improvement.
