He looks like he feels the same about you too. Excellent composition. I really like the lighting and surrounding detail.

Great shot with excellent composition, Monika! The colors of the Bernise Mountain Dog work perfectly with the colors of the sandstone. Nicely seen and executed

Welcome to the weekly challenge gallery, Monica. Your dog's colors blend in perfectly with the rocks. Your positioning, with the dog clear at the bottom and the color blending, makes for a neat surprise in the viewing. It's interesting to see how much brighter and more colorful the larger view is, even though it's the same size.

Thanks, guys.
Gary, she's an Australian Shepherd. Much smaller than a Bernese -- I wouln't have wanted to haul a Berner back up some of the pour-offs we went down (& then back up)! It got so narrow in places, I doubt a Berner would have fit!

Love it Monica. Wonderful light. You couldn't have captured a better expression or placement of your partner. It's all good for me.

Hello Monica and Canine partner. Great capture with stunning converging lines ! Mr. canine looks sharp with excellent detail.
The only nit is the top center very bright vertical . If toned down some or even cropped out would greatly enhance the Image!

William, I looked at cropping it, but I lost way too much of the canyon walls. The sky was just overcast and bright. I burned it as much as i could without it getting a weird tint.
Thanks for the welcome, guys. I've actually been a member for several years, but right after renewing, the RM chapter switched to FB (of which I am not a member), so NPN hasn't been happening for me for the last 2 years.

How often do you see an excellent shot of a canine family member in a slot canyon?
Nuts to that "photo critique on FB" crap, keep posting right here in the NPN galleries!

This is just swell. Really nice color with form and texture to match. I lived in Boulder for 10 years. What is the red zone?

David,
The Red Zone is the high fire danger area -- like red flag warnings. We are just over the ridge to the south from where the 4 Mile Fire started. Had the winds gone south instead of north and east, our neighborhood would probably have been lost.

This scene has it all, Monika. Great looking dog, wonderful setting, and being in the field doing photography. The lighting was excellent in providing the detailed capture of your dog here too. Had to be a fun outing all the way around......
.......gotta love UT for photo ops also, one of my go to states for photographic trips.
btw: thank you for your comment on our dog Finley and his seizure episode. All input from those that have had similar events with their dogs is reassuring and encouraging help for us......

Hi Monika,
Well done--When I looked at the small thumbnail--I did not see the pup in the corner. This image is pretty cool and the tricolor fits in very well with the sandstone of the canyon...........................Jim
