Pinus sylvestris III

The third and last of the Pinus sylvestris mini series. A dog (I), a duck (II) and now a deer. The bark of this tree is very rough, full of cracks and mainly gray. At older trees the bark seems to peel off at certain places and orange/red bark appears, much smoother but rich in forms and structures. Here the bark is dry. When wet, the grey parts turn almost black but I still have to try these red parts on a drowsy day. All C&C very much appreciated of course.

Techs: Canon 40D, Sigma 150 mm, iso 100, 0.4 sec, f/9, CPL, tripod, Helicon remote, 7 images stacked with Zerene, LR adjustments and some 'Kuyperism'.

I was thinking deer even before I read your description, Igor.  The details and colors show very well in the larger view.  I've taken both wet and dry pictures of Sycamore bark and the difference is remarkable.  Wet bark shows stronger colors but reduces the detailed texture.  Have fun testing.

This looks really like a deer! Great find and presentation.
