Above the Valley

I took this picture above a valley called Lakes' Valley in the Italian Pre-Alps. The fog was raising from the underlying lake and the atmosphere was incredibly muffled. I try to reproduce the effects of the scattered light on the trees and the slope. I blended two different exposures using luminosity masks to balance the high contrasts. Suggestions are very welcome both on the picture itself and on the PP. Thank you.

Mattia,

Love the atmosphere here.  It's amazing how the fog seems concentrated just behind the tree, yet open on the left allowing the viewer to see beyond.  This works beautifully for me.  The sun, the fog and the glow behind the tree are wonderful.  I suppose you could crop from the left and make this more uniform with just the fog and silhouette, but I like this very much as presented.

I like the mood and the misty light. The silhouette of the trees works well. I tend to agree with Lon;s suggestion to crop some from left: The dar area and the stump tend to pull my eye. You did a nice job handling the light, Mattia.

Sweet light and a great mood here with the fog, Mattia. I like this as presented, but I too agree with a crop from the left. I think that would elevate this beautiful scene another notch.

Great diffused light that gives this image a magical quality. I like this image as is. I think a crop from the left would simplify this image, which is always a good thing, but it would eliminate some of the best part of it as well. The lines of perspective lead me to that stump and I like that area. The only suggestion I would make has to do with the very brightest area of the sun. I would cone into it the bright area next to it that isn't blown out. I think that can be done and still preserve the sense that this the source of the light.

I  really, really like this.  A beautiful scene of "real" nature and excellent composition and post processing.
