Gallinago delicata

I found a group of Wilson's Snipes feeding on a mud flat over the weekend. I am always surprised at how well these shorebirds can move around so quickly in the mud.

Canon 1DX, 800mm f5.6L IS + 1.4TC
1/500, f11
ISO 400

All comments and critique are very appreciated.
Thank you.

Amazing detail for that much glass, Matt.  Nice feeding behavior and an excellent angle.  That must have been some really soft mud for the Snipe to sink in so far.

I'm surprised that you could stop motion at 1/500, Matt.  These guys move quickly!  The depth is really nice with the oof foreground and background. Great shot!

Nice job isolating the bird in the mud.  Depth of field is really pleasant.  There is a little bit of softness noted on the head with respect to the large view but overall this is a very nice image.   You did a really good job to get as low as you did.
