Yesterday morning I found a group of five Grey Partridges on a morning-frozen field. As is their habit they remained motionless until the photographer was gone again ....

Nikon @ 500mm | 1/1000s | f5 | ISO560 | handheld while lying in the field and getting cold enlightened

have a nice weekend all crying,

Cheers,
Hans

Pretty cool scene Hans.  Nicely done on the exposure to show all the detail in the frozen grasses.

As usual, a very fine image. I love your selective focus, the contrast of the frost and color of the Partridge and the placement of the beautiful bird. Keep them coming.

Funny, I knew the image was yours as soon as I saw it. Well done. The bird stands out so well.

Amazingly colorful bird for one called "gray", Hans.  I like the nice low angle and the exposure is perfect.

'handheld while lying in the field and getting cold' - That's what it's all about and the image means even more, a very cool image Hans, love the placement.

As an alternative, have you thought about a 16 x 9 pano, loosing some off the top?

Beautiful, Hans.  Well seen.  I like the way the orange seems to pop out of the surroundings. devil

Can't agree more with all the positive comments.  I wish more birds would learn the art of Posing from this beauty.

Reminds me of your tulip shot, Hans.  The splash of orange is wonderful.

Very cold image.  Interesting choice of resting place for this Partridge.   I like the composition with especially the contrast between the frozen grasses and the orange bird.  Wonderful detail with beautiful zone of focus.  I like Steve's idea for the panoramic composition.

Hans, - Stunning in it's simplicity. Exceptional colour contrasts, and sharpness vs OOF.
Heading for the yearly wins, I think!
Congrats on this WP!
