House Finch I

A break from the Eagles.  I went out to my blind yesterday and there were quite a few House Finches using the feeders and posing more or less cooperatively.  I'm always fascinated by the variations in the plumage within this species, so I thought I'd post a selection of them.

7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, Jobu gimbal mounted to blind window, f/8, 1/2000, iso 1250, Aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Slight crop for composition (18.5 MP before resizing).  Taken December 4th at 10:16 AM with some sun filtering through the trees onto the perch.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Very nice light on this Finch.     Very nice pose and detail.  Lovely composition.   I do however find it almost a bit desaturated on my monitor but the contrast levels are okay.   Despite having Niger seed in one of my feeders, I have not seen any finches in all this winter.  This is unusual as in previous winters, they have come to my area.

Very nice.  Good pose/eye contact, non-distracting background, a large perch with some character and the detail looks great.

Nothing to complain about with this image Dennis. Love the chunky big perch. The detail in the Finch is very sharp. Looks like a field guide photo. Well done sir!  devil
