Owl on Roof

Yellowstone regulars know that the most reliable place to see owls in spring is in Mammoth Village.  Nearly every year, you'll find a family of Great horned owls there, often perched on rooftops.  It's not a natural perch, but the patterns here were too good to pass up.

Every night I have Owls on my roof, one on each chimney.  They call back and forth for hours, but by sunrise they are gone.  I never see them in the daylight.  At least someone out there gets to see them.  I also like the sea of tiles that the Owl is surrounded by.  devil

Max, This is one cool shot! Really interesting with the tiled roof. I see why you didn't pass this up! cool Nick

Max, this is a great photo. The patterns in the roof line BG, FG and those on the angle where the owl is perched combine to complement the pattern found in the owl's feathers.  The composition is on target and the tones too are complementary. AND you  captured the owl with it's typical "aloof" pose. I like everything about this image.... Kudos!

Love the graphic nature of this image. Placement of the bird within the frame really celebrates this well.

Sorry about posting in the wrong gallery (for some reason I thought M&F was for captive animal photos), but thanks for the WP.
