KHUTZEYMATEEN Grizzly Bear , getting refreshed !   The tide was strong and brought us close to this young Grizzly as it played and searched the bottom for some food, the water dripping & claw splashing was entertaining to watch.  The claws have grown during the wintertime but will wear down during the upcoming seasons as it forages under rocks, digs for clams etc. Taken during mid afternoon with sun getting lower , providing some rim lighting, with very tight framing.

Nikon D600 with lens at 400mm VR on normal, 1/640, F4, ISO320, Hand held in floating zodiac boat, about 5Pm BC Time, -.67 Meter adjustment,

Comments appreciated.

I like the intensity on the face of this Grizzly Bear.  You did a really good job with the detail and the exposure.

Wow, that's really sharp for handheld in a boat, and you got an amazing amount of DOF.  Both eyes  are bright. Excellent exposure control.  Nice one!

Full frame?  If so, I think you could pull in a little tighter yet!  I like the details of claw, the soda straw of water drooling from the mouth and the red eyes.

Hello guys and really appreciate the feedback!

Sun was a constant companion over our shoulders mostly,... over the almost  week-long Adventure. So we started out earlier each morning to take advantage of the quiet water and stillness that settles in with low misty clouds each day. But higher ISO were very evident from available low light. This sunny capture was later in the day with low and more favorable suns  attitude in the sky.
Since the demise of the Leader of the Pack, the bears were nervous this season, with the teenage males jousting for the Leadership of the Khutzeymateen . A Nasty aggressive guy was quite dominant and overall a nervousness was evident within the" Valley of the Bears"
