I believe that this teneral dragonfly (newly metamorphosed) is a Blue Dasher.  It was still in the process of drying it's wings, which let me get close and work at greater than 1:1 for a good look at it's compound eye and face.  (7D2, 180mm macro L, 1/160 s, f/8, iso 800, tripod)

Fantastic detail; excellent focus; great color; just a downright good image.

Hi Mark,

The use of f8 provides the viewer with a nice slice of detail that includes the eyes, face, wings and front legs.  Sometimes less is better than more and this image works well.  Teneral dragonflies provide a wonderful and more relaxed photo session for us macro photographers.........................Jim
