Female Cardinal

I haven't been able to shoot much for a couple of months due to tendonitis in my right elbow. It's getting a little better now so I went out today to see what I could find. We had fresh snow coming down and the only cooperative bird I found was this female Cardinal hanging out in a tree outside my back door. The light was very flat and overcast. I added some contrast, additional sharpening to the bird and applied NR to the background.

Thanks for looking, comments & suggestions are always appreciated!

Nice detail in the bird, Steve, and a good pose.  If your mouse manipulation isn't too badly affected by the tendonitis, you might make that oof twig coming up from the bottom into the bird's belly go away.   I like the snow fall.

Good luck with the elbow.

Nice capture and fine work setting off the bird against the background.

Hey Steve,
This one is a beauty and the snow adds a wonderful addition to the story. The large version is impressive with really nice detail and color. I would second Dennis's suggestion on the twig. Hope your elbow gets back to 100% soon, I miss seeing your work on a regular basis.

Very well done! She must've been sitting pretty still for you, given the movement in the snowflakes. Gotta love it when that happens. I know you've probably heard this a bunch, but it would really be a perfect Christmas card.
