Again, thanks for the comments and suggestions on "Burning Fire." This is the same scene but a different comp closer to the flowers and without any sky. Thoughts and suggestions on this one? D600, 14-24 Nikkor @ 24, 1/60, f20, iso 400.

My best guess on these flowers right now  is Cryptantha species known as popcorn flower. The plants reach up to 20 inches tall. And your crop works very well too! Well done...................Jim

Excellent Scott! While technically it looks like you've split this in half diagonally, I think the composition works beautifully and is quite comfortable (If a comp can be that..)  And I'm really enjoying the color combinations here.  Just an excellent job showcasing the plant and flowers against the context of the area.

Only a couple of minor suggestions.  And most often it's the little things that can take an image to the next level.  First, and this has nothing to do with the image per se, but personally, the tiny rusty/red stroke around the image kinda takes away, even though it's hardly noticeable. Just to check, I see in your previous that you used black for the stroke. I think that works better.

As far as the image goes, I might back off the green saturation a bit - mostly in the tallest green vegetation in the center. Then, I might burn down the LL edge and corner to darken slightly to match the exposure that's closer to the center of the flowering bush. All minor stuff, just a couple things I noticed.

A wonderful image from Valley of Fire.

I like the composition and the contrast between the white flowers and red rock. Well seen and photographed.

Scott, This one is very nice and the tighter view with the split diagonal comp does work. It does feel a bit cut off on the top for me and that is maybe because I saw the other one first with the wider view. I can't quite decide which I like best now. I agree with Lon that you could maybe drop the green saturation just a bit, although I wasn't there so not really sure how green this was. A very interesting place and you captured it beautifully.

I like the contrasting elements in this scene, namely the contrasting color and texture between the flowers and the sandstone. Nicely done!

This is very nice, Scott. The combination of the reds and greens are gorgeous. I think this tighter comp. is even stronger than the prior post.

I like this as is.  The soft light really works well here.
