Fall Sycamores

Saw this tableau of some young spreading Sycamores one week in very low light and the leaves were a yellow green; returned a week later when there was a little more light to work with and the leaves had more fire in them. I did not like the cut off in the upper right hand corner and would have preferred a more balanced spread in keeping with the lower left corner but the ridge line sky creeps in where it is not wanted.  Interested in any comments and critiques.

I like your composition - particularly the way that the tree branches radiate from the center of the frame to the corners.  I could see brightening the leaves a bit to create further separation from the background.

A fine collection of trees, Stephen, well presented.  I really like the spread of the trees and the contrast between their leaves and the white trunks.  While I don't know what'ss up there, if possible a bit more up top to show of the rounded dome of the tree tops would be nice.

I like the composition, but I would brighten the leaves and the turnks a bit.

Stephen,

I'm really enjoying how the sycamore trunks stand out in this scene and also the color contrast between the orange/brown of the leaves against the darker green background.  Perhaps a tad dark, but the open-diffused light let the colors come through.

I like the comp and I don't mind the branches exiting the frame top and right.  My motto is, if you're going to cut something off, make it on purpose.  The room on the left balances for me with the top and right even considering all the trunks are fairly centered.

Love these trees and you've showcased them beautifully.

The leaves and trunks are set off nicely from the background Stephen.  I think this image might make a really nice BW conversion, as you might get some nice separation between th leaves and trunks and the background.  I would think that the tree would really pop to the forefront and create a 3D feel to the image.  Otherwise, I like what you have done here.

This is a nice grouping of colorful sycamores, Stephen. I do not mind the top right being cut off a bit as you sometimes you have no choice. I really like the way that they fan out and fill the image. My only suggestion would be to brighten them just a bit to give them a little separation from the darker BG. A larger image would also be nice.

Beautiful stand of trees. The composition works nicely despite your limitations in the framing of it. I would agree with the suggestions to brighten the trunks to make them stand out more. Well done.

OK,  put me in the group that wants to have the tops of the trees in there.... cheeky.  Why? You have that nice  bit of grass in front that provides a nice frame for the trees in the FG, and my eye ( and brain) want that same balance on top..... simply a personal preference, obviously, since others don't mind it.
