I posted this one as an un-cropped photo this Fall and the landscape reviewers provided some good suggestions.  One was to crop it square and present it as an abstract.  This is a 1500 by 1500 pixel crop from the original Tiff file.  The reason that it is one of my favorites is that the subject, although a fairly common species, was a lot of fun to photograph and process. I also used image stacking and compiled 3 composite image to produce the high res presentation as seen here. Enjoy...............................Jim

Very good work, Jim.  Excellent processing and photography.  It makes a really interesting abstract with all the curved lines and subtle colors.

This works beautifully in the square format. I like where the center of the "swirl" is located, and all the other curvy lines and beautiful rich colors add to it.

This certainly works beautifully as an abstract, Jim - reminds me, too, of a slab of polished onyx  The detail the large version shows up is excellent from the stacking.

Jim, this is a great look at this 'shroom.  The added focus on symmetry with the square crop works very well.  You also have some fine pop in the browns and great details.  Definitely a beauty.

Jim, although we know what it is, it makes for an excellent abstract with the changes you've provided. There are many images like this that work better in the square format over any rectangle as we see here.......well done.  It's a must see in the larger size too.....enlightened
