Gull with Sculpin WC767
by Dennis Plank
This is another from a favorite location-Big Beef Creek near Seabeck, WA on Hood Canal. For people camping, Scenic Beach State Park, while it doesn't have hookups, is a handy place to stay with nicely private sites and it is glorious when the native Rhododendron, which form a large part of the understory, are in bloom. The place is known for it's Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons going after the sculpins, but Gulls and the Northwest Crow (Fish Crow) are great subjects as well.
This gull had just caught the fish and had escaped from another gull that was trying to steal it.
7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/7.1, 1/800, iso 1250, manual exposure. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped to a pano presentation to get rid of a bunch of unneeded space at the top and bottom and to leave in the water trail. Taken June 14th at 6:35 AM.
Comments and criticisms are always welcome.
Thanks,

3 commentsWhat a cool moment you captured here, all the elements combine to tell a great story and I really like your choice of a pano crop.
Well done . . .
