Juneau Icefield Research Project is a summer project that has taken place since the 50's, I believe. There's an enormous ice field consisting of about a dozen glaciers. Each summer a group of students and glaciologists from around the world gather to measure the properties of the ice as it exists. This image was taken just above one of the camps at near sunset in July.

I am generally not a friend of landscapes with people in them, but there are some exceptions. In this case I think that the people add interest because they are engaged in a number of different activities. The people become the focus of interest, and then all is fine. So yes, it should go into Man and Nature, but it is nonetheless a strong photograph.

Yeah, it needs to be in M&N, but that said, this is a cool image.  Low sun, the people moving around, and the moon in the distance.  Great comp!

Igor,

Still here so I better comment quick! ;-)

This is an outstanding M&N image.  The human element clearly out of their "element" so to speak.  The light is beautiful and I love the context of the entire image and story.  Excellent.  Makes me think this might be a 2-image spread in National Geo.

Yes, still here so I better comment quick too...I agree with Lon that this looks like something from National Geographic and I'm enjoying it much! The moon adds a nice extra element that adds to the feel of this image.  Very cool image! Nick
