Elephant Crossing

A shot from a couple of years ago taken during one of my tours in South Africa.  We were stationed on one side of the Sand River photographing a herd of elephants from a distance when the matriarch decided it was time to cross.  They marched in our direction, getting closer and closer.  I decided to switch to a wider lens to capture the procession as they ultimately walked within 10 meters or so of our vehicle.  The patterns in the cloudy sky suggested some nice potential for a black and white conversion.

Wonderful image - love the elephant parade and the exceptional clouds. The B&W  is perfect here.
Not the smallest nit from me - excellent work!

The wide expanse of cloud cover and the symmetry of the elephant's crossing make this a very attractive and interesting image to me.  Very nice!

This angling parade should have afforded you several great perspectives.  Excellent capture.

Remains a classic - well composed and handled tonally in the conversion.
