Red Fox

This photo was taken on a ranch where there was a small stack of hay bales in the hay yard.  I drove by and saw this Red Fox frozen on this small hay bale ledge on the side of the stack.  The fox did not move.  I think it thought I did not see it.

Nice catch!
Love red foxes - we had a few in California, but mostly the gray foxes.
Looks like he/she found a nice warm place for the night, maybe back between the bales.
Sharp detail and unusual BG, and that stare is killer.
Very fine find, well-captured!

Nice find, he really pops off the bales of hay nicely.

Wonderful catch, Ralph.  Very well photographed and composed.  The hay bales actually make a great backdrop for the fox and I like the inclusion of the thin wedge of snow on the bottom to anchor the image.  Hope the farmer was paying the fox well for its rodent control.
