Lovely female Monarch and butterfly bush. They stand out really well against the dark green background. I would consider a crop from the left to about a vertical 4:5. This would pull the subject back to about the left 1/3d line and shorten the long stem, which doesn't add much to the composition.

Sweet image! Nice colours contrasting well with the green BG.
I agree with Phil's crop suggestion - or clone the stem out altogether.
Lovely!

Thanks for the suggestions, Phil and Sandy. I cropped from the left as you suggested and then I also cropped some from the right and the top. I think this is better than my original post.

Sweet image, Barb, and I like the repost even better. I think you could eliminate the stem, but it would take some fairly tricky work.

Hi Barb,
Very nice--I would not worry about the stem. The monarch has enough presence to draw the eye away from the stem. I like the horizontal version as much or better than the repost.........................Jim

Ahhh, visions of summertime dancing in my head... A fine look at this Monarch on a good looking flower. I like the arch of stem coming in from the left.

Beautiful!!! I like the first post the best. The second feels crowded. Agree cropping out the stem -very tricky. So option to leave it in and use the arch of the stem as part of the art form.
