After days and days of rain, I captured this on our last day of our Pacific Northwest trip last October.
Jedediah Smith Redwoods, Crescent City, CA.

D800,

Thanks,
Chris

This is excellent, Chris!  Extraordinary light and masterfully composed.  The only suggestion that I have is to deepen the shadows just a little.

Spectacular, Chris.  That light is amazing.  Love how the green slope on the right balances that extraordinary light show on the left, all interlaced with the bold verticals of the trees.  I'm wondering if darkening the shadows a tad, and maybe the midtones a wee bit too might increase the feeling, the celebration, of that glorious light bursting through the fog and forest.  Just a thought.  Your image is stunning either way; the larger image is a must see. What a gift on the last day of your trip.

My backyard!
Wonderful golden light here, and nice composition.
I too might darker the trees a bit more to provide even greater contrast with the light.
Love it -
Sandy

Love what that moisture can do! Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling looking at this, really draws me into the enchanted forest.  I can see a nice vertical comp using the left side as well - maybe you got one of that?  Processing looks great, you captured the mood perfectly.

Beautifully done Chris.  Magical moment for sure.  Only thing I would suggest is to clone the branch exiting the frame top right on the little sapling.  That's the only thing that caught my eye.  Almost too small to mention. Outstanding image.

Well done, Chris. I know how tricky these sunbeam images are. The fog has to be the right thickness or the dynamic range is too great. There is a real nice sense of an enchanted forest in this image. The shadows have good detail despite shooting into the sun.

Beautiful Chris!  Morning glory comes to mind... the sun's rays are wonderful actually taking the eye through the frame.

Only small nits/suggestions.  I do think there's room to up the contrast slightly - at least selectively in some of the bigger trunks. I think you mentioned on FB that you were struggling with the contrast? (yeah, I saw the post...) ;-)  Also, maybe it's just me and maybe just resizing for the large version, but the large version looks a little soft to me.  I'm sure your original file is fine.

Love the redwoods, I need to go some time.

What a fantastic forest scene Chris. I am filed with feelings of positivity and hope when I enjoy this capture. You did a wonderful job handling the dynamic range in this sweet capture. This scene really brings me in as if I was there with you bro.

Just Awesome
