Tree and Fog

Very foggy morning in the Northern Sacramento Valley.  Field flooded by heavy recent rains and tree emerging from several feet of water.  D500, 150-600 @ 150. f8, 1/3200, ISO 1600.  I was set up for avian photos and forgot to change over.  Pretty sure this is a cottonwood.  I like the faint tree and water reflection.  Comments appreciated.

Very interesting, Jim.  I've been driving around all morning in a dense fog looking for images like this with no luck.  The rain never let up.  I like the high key mysterious feel here.  Nice.

Jim: the photo definitely conveys a sense of calm, quiet even a bit of mystery. Well done. Richard

Jim,

Simple and effective.  The comp is a little unconventional, but makes this more creative; the use of negative space really helps tell the story and set the mood.

the only suggestion would be to play with brightness.  Lot's of things, most of which might likely change the mood, but I think this sets up nicely for a high-key image as well.

Works very well as you've presented though.

I like this.  That slight shadow really shows up, and makes the image for me.  Excellent processing on this, I think.  Fog can be very hard to get right.  Well done.

Beautiful! My kind of image!  I might go with Lon's suggestion to play with the brightness, but looks outstanding as presented.
