From Nome Alaska while on a trip with Ken Archer.  This Fox was hanging around our small group and just seemed like he wanted some company.

Exquisite detail in the fur in the large version, and a great look at this fellow. Seems quite bright overall, but I have only the laptop here. Would like to see it less bright and a bit more contrast.
Really nice image!

Looks pretty spot on to me Charlie, great depth of detail and I like the concentrated stare. Just fractionally lifting the light 1/4 Tones in a selective Curves adjustment I feel will give the image a bit more 'pop' tonally.

Really beautiful portrait. That look is priceless. He does indeed look lonely. I would suggest you lower the exposure just a bit. Seems just a touch bright to me. Well done.

He has perfected what I think is the art of looking so forlorn and lonely in the hope that someone will provide a morsel of something delicious. You have captured that look wonderfully. A bit darker, but not much. Very nice.

Absolutely beautiful.  I agree about making it just a tiny bit darker.

Great  all round image Charlie.  Nice BG and FG. Looks OK on my monitor but  teeny bit darker wouldn't hurt.

Very nice portrait.  You might want to double check your ID on this.  It looks a lot like an Arctic Fox.

I did wonder about the "hairyness " of this guy !
Still nice whatever.

Beautiful shot Charlie, love the relaxed pose and the oof fg and bg.  devil
Skip and John, this is indeed a Red Fox not an Arctic Fox, the ones in the far north are lighter than the ones in the continental US>

Such a gorgeous fox he/she was, and very cooperative too. Love that attentive stare!

A beautiful portrait you captured for sure, and by my recollection your exposure looks on the money.

Sweet One laugh

I am eagerly looking forward to this years trip!

Hey Charlie,

So what kind of bat is this? enlightened

This is very solid as posted - and very appealing. If it were mine I'd take the exposure on the BG down just a bit, and work the selective contrast on the fox a tad as well (but I wouldn't darken the fox as others are suggesting).

Nicely done...cheers...

This is unlike any fox image I can recall. The paleness of the fur is very intriguing and it helps to focus the viewer on the red face.

Excellent.

Thanks everyone!  As Nate and Ken pointed out, the Red Foxes in the north are almost a blonde color.  Very light.  Also, it was early in the spring, and this is new growth on the plants which can be very light in color too.  I can go a little darker, but I would probably keep the eyes and nose a little lighter just so not to lose detail in those areas.  I'll play around with this one some more and see how it looks.
