Winter Worthington

This is essentially the same view of Worthington Glacier as the last post except it was taken in the middle of winter.  I shot this panorama many years ago (2003, I believe).  The stitched version has no EXIF data and the original files are stored on an old hard drive that I didn't want to fire up and search.  It consists of 3 rows of 10 horizontal photos but they were only 5 mpixel photos because they were taken with my old Sony DSC-F707 camera.  It still has so much detail that I discovered a couple new things in the scene when I zoomed in and looked around a few years after I took it.

To get a sense of the depth of detail in this image, here is a 100% crop from the middle of the right half, at the horizon line.

Here is another crop from approximately the middle of the left half.  I discovered this cross country skier a few years after I created this pano.

Yeah, yeah, what glacier?  sad  How fun to get a two season comparison.  The variety of whites in this view is wonderful, Gary.  The tracks, bottom center are a fine addition and the rugged mountains make a fine textural contrast with the rounded foreground.  Did the skier use the helicopter to get here?

Probably not, Mark. Since the skier is right next to the highway I doubt he would have paid the $100+ for a helicopter ride to get there. On the other hand, downhill skiers from all over the world are regular customers laugh

I like the way the creeks lead one up to the ravines and then to the peaks.  Nice lines and snow contrast. Looks like a good place to Telemark.
