New Years Eve north of Mount Shasta in Northern California a few years back. We were coming back South from a few days at the Lower Klamath/Tulelake Wildlife Refuges. This is a 3 shot pan after sundown. I used a 2 second timer with the camera on a rock. Canon 40D, f5.6, 1/15 sec, iso 400, 17-85 lens at 85 mm.

Love the pastel colors in this scene, Ed!  Very nice job on those long exposures and stitching.

Love the gentle pinks/magentas here Ed.  They set off the rugged chill of the snow covered mountain very well.  I'm enjoying how the peak on the right, with it's blown off top and eroded sides, show classic volcanic geology.

Ed, oddly not too many posts from this iconic locale like we see of Mt. Rainer and others. Obviously as photogenic as any of the others that get posted.
The magenta is a tinge I see often from my Velvia work, and for me it is a very pleasant look during sunrise and sunset photographic sessions. Although, some will say magenta is not anything witnessed in nature. Say what? I've seen it many times during the those sun exposing events.
Anyway, I like this a lot and can only see a tiny bit more of web sharpening needed, maybe. Might just be my aging eyes.....sad

Beautiful.  Nothing like a snowy peak to show off the lingering light.  Great work with the rock-pod.

As nice a profile of Mount Shasta as I have seen.  Very nice color.  You are certainly in the right place at the right time.

I think I know exactly where this image was shot - the vista point on hwy 97 just north of the mountain? It's a spectacular spot to watch the clouds move about the summit. I think I would try darkening the blue sky just a tad but not the pink clouds. Those I might saturate a bit. It's a matter of taste really.
