Fellows Riverside Gardens, natural light. 2014. D600, 150 sigma f2.8 macro at f22, 1/50, iso 500, tripod. Not sure why I shot this at iso 500. Probably shooting bees and did not reset iso. Suggestions and other comments welcome.

The centered composition works for me, Scott.  I like the texture of the petals and the slightly mysterious look of the center.

Beautiful - great colours, perfect comp, tack-sharp, and a sweet peek at the "inner sanctum". In this case, the centering is a positive.
The bold black border is quite stark and detracts, imo. A thin line around the imge just to set it apart from the BG would be better.
If you are interested in using some frames, I'd recommend Fred Miranda Frames - a $12 download and easy to learn - one quick additional step.

Thanks, Sandy. I changed the border to a medium gray. Good suggestion. I should pay more attention to the borders than I do. Thanks for the link.

Hi Scott,

I like the dark pink edges on the petals that radiate out from the yellow bases of the flower.  Center comp is fine as presented......................Jim

To put things in photographic perspective—the flower supplied the colors and shape—you supplied the distance to subject, the DOF, the centered comp and the amount of flower to include. Both you and the flower did good work! cool

The lighting really brings out the colors and details.  Nicely composed; well done.
