Winter Swans - 1

This is another shot of the Trumpeter Swans that surprised me on the tide flats in February in Valdez, Alaska.  There were 5 swans but I couldn't get a close up of all 5 so I picked these 3.  They were pretty dirty and skinny so I suspect they have been wintering in Alaska.

Sony a6500, FE 70-200 F2.8 GM @ 140 mm, ISO-100, f/5.6, 1/4000, hand held.

Great background for these guys. The whites look good. Well captured.

Another nice look at these swans with that beautiful background. They look like juvies based on their color. Very nice detail in the birds and well composed. I do wish for a bit of separation between the two front birds, but nothing you could do about that. Beautiful image.

Another sweet shot of these birds, Gary, with a great mountain backdrop.

Gary, I prefer this one.  There's no overlap between the swans and mountains, so it works much better, IMO.

Terrific to see the swans against the peak.  They really stand out nicely.   The wing positions almost mimic the slope of the ridge.  Well done.

Lovely and interesting image.  The snow covered mountain background really makes the image for me.
