White Sand Blue Sky

This was from years ago at White Sand National Monument in New Mexico. The white sand is gypsum. It is amazing that any plant or grass could grow there. Canon Rebel XT, f10, 1/250 sec, iso 100, 18-55 mm lens at 18 mm.

Beauyiful work. I would bring up the near shadows just a tad.

That is some beautiful sand, Ed.  The high key nature of this image is set of well by the grasses and their shadows.  The shadows clear up nicely in the larger view.

Fascinating photo.  I like the way the white sand mirrors the clouds creating some interesting contrast.  The tufts of grass are placed perfectly in the frame.

Ed, I know the WC is based upon the sand, but this sky is just wonderful. I'd give anything to have some neat clouds like that out in our deserts. In keeping with the WC theme I will mention & include the excellent pure white sand here as well.......enlightened

Gorgeous composition with the curve of the clouds matching the curve of the sand.  The grass provides added interest.  The difference between the cool white of those spectacular clouds and the warm white of the gypsum is also fascinating.
