Lanterman's Mill, aka "The Old Mill," is a working flour mill built in 1840. It is located about a mile from where I live. Acquired by Mill Creek Park (which is now part of Mill Creek MetroParks) in 1892, it is on the national register of historic places. I have shot it at least 50 times over the years, but this old film image, taken on Xmas morning in 2002, remains a favorite. I just concluded a gallery show at the MetroParks to honor the 125th anniversary of Mill Creek Park, Ohio's first public park district, and this was one of the images in the show. I have posted other images of this mill here at NPN over the years which are in my gallery, but not this particular image. Nikon F5, velvia, 17-35 f2.8 at about 24 mm.

I think I also would have taken lots of  photos of this scene!  Nice to know such places are still around.  Good detail in this winter scene.  TFS.

Beautiful and picturesque, and very cold looking! I'll bet it was a flour mill, not a flower mill. How nice that you've been able to take so many images of this historic place over time. I can see why this one is a favorite.

A really fine look at this old mill.  I like the fact that it's the only thing that isn't white other than the water.  Very nice composition.

This is a spectacular winter scene, Scott.  All of the snow does a great job of contrasting with the moving water and the old mill (with the Christmas decorations in the upper windows).  This is my favorite view of this mill.

Really evocative image Scott, I can see why you keep going back here. My only nit is the that trying to reduce the brightness of the sky has just made it a bit muddy. I see no reason in a virtually monochrome image that the sky can't just go to white. YMMV of course....

A wonderful oldie Scott. This is a holiday card. Beautiful whites and soft water and wonderful old mill and bridge structures with all of the decorated flocked trees. I can easily see this on a wall.

Thanks for the comments. Ed, you are right about it making a nice card. In fact, I've printed and sold this as a card (both holiday and note) by the thousands (I use psprint for printing cards). It's by far my most popular card. It is such a meaningful and recognizable place for everyone growing up in this area.

Scott: Oh how I miss the challenge, frustration and reward of shooting Velvia! What a wonderful scene. The wreaths in the windows are a really nice touch. This is a superbly crafted image. Congrats on the WP.>=))>
