Star magnolia

Star magnolia ‘Rose King’, image taken last spring. I shot this very carefully to avoid any dark background peeking through the petals. Does the turned up petal in the center distracting?

D90, 105 mm, f/6.3, 1/200, ISO 800, original frame. May 2016.

My kind of floral image, Yun. The turned up petal does not bother me a bit. I love the beautiful flowing petals and the nice light. In the words of Bill, two thumbs up. devil

Soft flowing elegance!  I didn't notice the petal until you mentioned it.  Beautiful image.

A delicate, flowing image. Technically well made.

The colors throughout are wonderful, soft and elegant. Because the colors blend so well, the petal in the foreground is not a distraction at all. Beautiful.

Very beautiful image, Yun !  The light and shade, and the suffusion of pale purple in the petals is superbly handled.  The whole composition has a lovely rhythm to it - the slightest of nits might be to suggest a small crop from the L but this is excellent as is.

Yun I really love the softness of the petal opposite to the sharpness of the center. I like very much also the delicate, elegant and romantic color of the petals. Beautiful photo for me.
