Lockett Meadow local#775
by Doug Koepsel
Locket Meadow is at the foot of the inner basin of the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, AZ. In late September, it is very popular for fall colors for locals and Arizonans, While it pales in comparison to the grandeur of the Rockies of Colorado, Eastern Sierras, and Tetons, it is the closet that Arizona has. The "inner basin" is believed to have been formed when the side of the volcanic mountain blew out like Mount St Helens.

4 commentsJohnT- the box is for a valve as they have tapped a spring in the meadow. I am told that the Adobe PS strain of grass grows quickly. Up in the inner basin under the far peak, Flagstaff has a few well houses and pump stations for a pipeline to supply Flagstaff with water. Flagstaff is located at the foot of these peaks.
MarkS, that subtle sunrise did give a slight but nice magenta cast. This is from fall of 2014 when I decided to stay home and photograph the local peaks rather that travel to Colorado.
