Marina Beach Sunrise

I don't get to shoot seascapes often. All that wildlife somehow gets in the way here in Southern Africa :)

I did manage a breakaway with my family recently, to the East Coast of South Africa where the Indian Ocean meets our shores. This was the only decent morning worth getting out there for.

Double exposure, combined in LR HDR and processed further in PS CC and Nik Color Efex.

Techs:

Nikon D800

Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8 @ 14mm

f16  |  ISO-50

Epic cloud formation, I can see the 50/50 spilt in the image allows you to include most of it.  Almost mirrors the rocks below, also the water action on the LR nice and dynamic.  The larger version has much better shad detail and well worth the work.  Only minor suggestion would be to slightly crop off left to the first large cloud formation to emphasize the flo of the image left ot right, in the same direction to the cloud.

This is superb Morkel. Love the leading line and how it is mimicked by the could. Colors are superb.

This works for me, Morkel. I like the soft water and the rock spits lead me nicely into the image. The sky is gorgeous. Well done!

Beautiful image, Morkel. I like the dramatic sky and gorgeous colors. My only issue is with the dark area in the rocks/water just to the right of center. That patch of dark color just looks a bit too dark to me.

Beautiful seascape, love the bold color.  Also I really like the shutter speed and motion/flow of the water in the LR quad.

Only small nit/suggestion is to pull back on the saturation in that same quadrant with the purples reflecting in the surf, but that's minor.  Also, appears to be a lens flare, or something, just about dead center on the horizon.

Superb image. The cloud formation works beautifully to pull my eye into the frame. Processing looks great.
