Back Roads +B&W

Here is another color vs. b&w image of oaks and sky.  About 30min after my last post, I had turned off the main highway to explore one of the many back roads - still chasing the sky and oaks.  Since most all the land of course is private, I was yet again behind a barbed wire fence; this time with a little more breathing room.

Since this is getting a little later in the day, the light was getting warmer and I thought was beginning to get picked up by the oak trees.  Maybe not the most dramatic sky relative to previous posts, but still dynamic.

Thanks again for your comments on previous images and for any critique or suggestions here.

This one works better for me in color. Go figure. Pretty rural rolling oak scene. I might pull back on the blues a little? But minor stuff. Nice image.

I agree with Mr. H--the color version is the ticket. I also agree with pulling down the blue and cyan saturation in the sky. The composition works nicely for me.

I am a sucker for big skies. This is another fine peaceful image. I will again add my vote for the color one.

Love the eye movement following the cirrus clouds, Lon.  There a great zoom effect leading to that central tree.  The presence of the grass is dramatically better in the larger view.  For me, the big difference is the invitation of early spring that the color version provides.  The b&w has more drama (contrast), but lack the invitation that spring is starting.

I gotta go with the color too, Lon.   For some reason, the unbalanced sky is accentuated more in the B/W.  The big blue patch works better in color.  Love these trees and I envy your drive.

Nice one, Lon. A very pleasing image. The big sky composition gives it a wonderful expansive feel. I too would vote for color.

Lon, I like this image very much. Your composition has such a nice feel to me and I really like all that sky with the wonderful clouds. This has a very uplifting and inviting feel that I'm enjoying. Color version all the way for me. cool

Color for me as well. That central oak in the b&w version could use more tonal separation by darkening it somewhat but I don't think that change would make it equal to the color version.

Yep, color. My favorite part is that set of puffy white clouds; they are beautiful. The oaks and background sky are more supporing feature so them IMHO. This is such a pastoral scene; wish I had been along to enjoy the day.

Thank you everyone for your comments.  I think a consensus on the color version and all with good reasons why. I agree with just about everyone on this image.

We've all been there and experienced it - the moment is by far the better experience than the resulting photograph!  Thanks for the comments!
