Siuslaw Sunrise and repost

I used Photographer's Ephemeris to determine where along the Siuslaw River (in Western Oregon) the sun would rise.  I was hoping for more red, but I'll have to try another day.  I'm curious how this is viewed by others and what suggestions you might have for future shots of this type.

Canon 7d Mark II
17-40 mm at 32 mm
1/2 second at f/18
ISO 100
Tripod with the camera leveled, but the original did not seem level to me and I gave it 1/2 degree counter-clockwise rotation.
Processed in LR and PS.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Mixed feelings about this one..
An interesting scene with potential, for sure.
The dark areas seem overwhelming - try the shadow tool in PS to recover some detail.
Added saturation of the colours might help.
Sometimes scenes just don't end up what we want..

A lovely, simple sunrise, where the color and good lines make a strong image.  I really like the color changes in this.
(Since that's a manmade piling on the left, it seems this ought to be in M & N.)

Allen,
I really like the overall feel of this image and the clouds settling over the shore.
I agree that bringing up the shadows and a touch more saturation might help. I think the piling is distracting and I would try just cropping it out. It may help the whole image.

Nice light and I like the silhouettes on the horizon. The piling just seems very incongruous with the rest of the scene and on that note I'm going to have to move this to man and nature.

Beautiful colors and scene, but I am on the fence about the piling. My attention keeps getting pulled back to it. The dark areas work for me, I don't feel the need to see detail.

Thanks for the comments; much appreciated.  They gave me several things to think about.  I brought out some detail in the shadows, though too much added noise.  I increased the saturation as well.  As for the piling: Any attempt to clone/content-aware it away resulted in a mess and cropping to remove it took out too much of the river.  I must admit that I was pleased to find the piling in the location I wanted to shoot from. I felt it was an interesting foreground element.  I kept it dark in post-processing to prevent the eye from being drawn towards it.
