Canon EOS 7D EF400mm f/5.6L USM
1/2500 sec;   f/7.1;   ISO 640
Manual;   Evaluative metering
LR5, PS6, clean up some white spots on water, Topaz DeNoise on background, Smart Sharpen on bird, 93% of full frame

First, I'm on a mini-photography trip in Central Florida, and this is the first avian post I've made.  (I also posted a snake in Wildlife.)  Tomorrow is my last day, and after that I will start catching up on commenting again.

I see after posting that the larger version isn't. I guess it's because of my cleaning up the white spots on the water. Anyway, the eye is good but you can't see that here.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Cool pose. I would definitely prefer more light on the subject via post processing.  I get the concept of the mood, but for me it is too dark to work successfully.

Nicely backlight on this image Barbara. I like the light filtering thru the bill and how it also outlines the birds reflection.

Thanks, Jenaya, Keith and Chuck.  Here is a repost with more light on the subject.  Better or still needs work?

Neat shot, Barbara.  I do like the mood, and for my taste the repost has about the right amount of light, though I might be tempted to warm it a bit-just personal taste.

The repost is very nice Barbara. Great mood and subtle color, almost makes it feel like a painting.

The repost is definitely an improvement on the light situation.  I might want to give it a little more room.  Otherwise a real nice image.

Dennis, warmer, and then I needed to lighten most of the pink more.  David, more room because Richard noticed the rotation, which wasn't right, and I rotated it but didn't crop it (it's 5 x 7 now) and did Content-Aware fill.  I also did more work to lighten the shadows on the head and bill.

How's this one?

Okay, one more time. :)  Another degree of rotation and I lightened the water because the legs were disappearing.

Any further comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you!
