Beautifully sharp with wonderful color against a superb background.  Yes that is a very nice lens and it works well.

It sure does produce the goods, John.  That's an absolutely beautiful image.  I love the detail in the plumage, the head turn and the composition.  Well done.

Excellent.

From the small image I thought this was a Harris' Sparrow based on the colors of the beak, face, and head. I didn't know any of the redpolls had these colors.

Very interesting!

Great head turn, pose, perch and background.  A rare bird in my part of the world.  Really nice detail in the larger version.

Thank you all.
The male  would have been nice but only one in colour amongst the 10 females !- and he didn't play ball !!

John,
Just goes to show you do not need the "latest" for superb images, a real beauty
