Great Tit
In between waiting for the elusive male redpoll, I played around with this for a while. I always find it a pain to get the dark head and  white cheeks right.
Getting there slowly I reckon.

A nice portrait of this cute little fella. I think the exposure looks just fine. The whites aren't too bright and the blacks aren't too dark.

Quite a nice job on the blacks and whites, John.  Our Chickadees present the same problem, since they're essentially the same bird without the cool extra colors.  I always try to expose to just barely not blow the whites and hope the blacks are ok. From there, it all depends on the light.  A sweet image.

Thank you.
I had one bit of self critique which I forgot to mention, I think the perch is a little  big for the bird.!
Any thoughts.?

The blacks and whites look good to me.  I love all the colors.  I think in this image the perch is fine, because you don't have a lot of it showing, and the bird actually looks really comfortable on it.

Barbara. I,ve had this thing about bird size in relation to perch for years but sometimes find it hard to explain.  Your comments are good enough  for me.! Thanks

This is really nice John.  I think you hit the exposure just right.  Any more and the whites would have been too much.  I like the windblown feathers and the level of detail in the whole image.  A very fitting background to make this Tit pop.  I think the perch is fine primarily because there's a step where the bird is standing.  It doesn't look out of place to me.

I like everything about this image John. The exposure looks great and the perch is fine too. The detail in the feathers is very sharp and this cute little bird gave you a fantastic pose.
