Two Paths

This is another image from the slot canyon building in Tucson.  No slot canyon would be complete without an arch, and with a little searching I was able to find one in this setting.

The orientation here is a bit out of kilter, but if you've ever photographed in a slot canyon, you know your camera is rarely absolutely vertical or horizontal.

I think this is one of the more metaphorical pictures I've taken, and it's based on an optical illusion.  You can visually walk through this arch and dead-end in the slats behind it, or you can find the second path that doesn't abruptly terminate.  Looking for alternate paths vs. accepting a dead end.  How's that for a metaphor for life?

I pushed the saturation here a bit since it created a nice warm/cool contrast, but feel free to let me know if it seems too much.

Nikon D7200, 18-300 mm zoom.

Addendum:  OK, is it just me or does a single click of the scroll wheel on my mouse cause the back slats to dim during scrolling and then to brighten as soon as scrolling stops?  I wish I could make all my images do that.  Sort of Harry Potter like.  However, now I'm worried my graphics card might be dying.

Hey Tony, great to see an image post from you!  This is fascinating, a mind-bender illusion and I love your metaphor - if that ain't the truth!

The colors here are wonderful - and true to my eye.  I mean the steely blue vs. the rusty warm tones, always a winning combination.  I think the saturation is expertly applied.

If I had one minor suggestion, it would be to deal with the little black triangle, LL edge.  The good thing is that corner is darker and so it's not really a distraction. For me, I like those darker, cooler diagonal slats in that corner, and that little triangle interrupts it for me.  That's pretty nitpicky, I know.

Thanks for those comments, Lon.

I actually tried cropping out the triangle originally.  It made things a little too simple.  I thought it's presence added a bit more visual interest, but maybe I'm looking for too much.

Tony, I like this as an abstract view of this building. Some interesting architecture to say the lest.....laugh

I did not see any mouse effect from my viewing here?........might be NPN website termites?.....sad

Beautiful abstract. The saturation works well here. Great shapes, lines and color.  I think the black triangle fits nicely into the comp. Light to dark, light to dark. Excellent image!

Can't help you with the mouse issue. Works normal on my Mac.

Amazing image! Saturation looks fine to me, although I agree with Lon's comment about ther slightly-darker LL.
Congrats on an exceptional WP!
