Bobcat Drinking

This is the 2nd Bobcat we saw that evening at Santa Clara Ranch in Texas.  He followed the first one which I posted earlier and then about a half an hour later came in for a drink.  The 500F4 was too close for the whole cat so I took a shot focusing on the head and reflection.  I find the ears on this species amazing! This is full frame, taken in low light right about sunset.  .

What an amazing experience that must have been! Plus the fact that this is full frame makes me incredibly jealous, haha. The detail is perfect, especially considering it was taken with a 500mm lens at 1/160! I love love love the reflection in the water, and the water dripping from his mouth is a huge bonus in my opinion.

Killer pose and wonderful light, both in the background and reflection. Detail is excellent as well. Neat capture Nate.

Hi Nate,

Very sweet shot! Love the golden light and I'm in full agreement that those ears are just great! Hard to find fault about anything in this shot...but I wonder if toning down the bright region at the bottom of the frame just a bit might make this excellent shot even better?

Cheers...

Gotta love those tufts of hair on the ears and the lapping of water, Nate.  Good choice with the glass you used.  The watchful stare and reflection in the water are great.

Terrific frame with so many plus points here. Looks like you were the invisible photographer here. Agree with Brad's suggestion about toning down the bright regions.
If I may suggest....cropping out the left paw completely may help the frame.

This is just so gorgeous and eye catching!  Lovely kitty!  Maybe you could knock down the highlight in the mid bottom near the ear reflection but that did not really affect my reaction when I first viewed this. Lovely

Fantastic and unusual shot of a bobcat, Nate. I agree about toning down the bright water.
