Backlight

This is going back a couple of weeks to an evening shoot at the rookery in Rockport, TX.  I was on the east side of the rookery and the sun was low enough that the trees were very dark, but there was enough light coming from over them to catch this Great Egret as it flew by.  My wife has been viewing the images on my website and she liked this one, so I thought I'd post it.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 562 mm, hand held, f/6.3, 1/2000, iso 500, manual exposure. Processed in LR & PS CC.  I had to brighten the whole image as it was dark in there and I had been doing flight shots at sky level.  I also selectively brightened the egret a bit more.  Full frame.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Really like this one Dennis. The egret delicately stands out from the background. I like the amount of background you chose, also. Just right.

I like the delicacy of the Egret against the massive dark limbs of the rookery. There is such a sense of the natural here!devil

Terrific backlighting on the Egret wings here.  Nicely placed in the frame and even though there is a lot of dark branches in the background, they don't detract from the total image at all.  The wing position is really nice. If I had any wishes at all for this image it would be to have a little more separation between the legs in the background

Nice work with the backlight. This is quite nice in the larger version.

The larger version is especially beautiful.  I really like the darkness and the white.

I like how it's wings show the light through Dennis. The image has a moody feel with the dark bg which gives it a very natural look. Techs look right on too.
