One of my favorite ducks. Even though the light looks like it might have been a bit harsh, you handled it well. Love the open beak.

A pretty male of the species. The open beak adds a plus. The forehead and beak seem ever so slightly soft focus. An extra round of sharpening at those locations might be helpful.

It looks like he's giving you a big smile for the photo! It's nice when they cooperate like that ;). I am wondering if maybe the head is a bit soft?

Really nice exposure Sharon. Looks like you had some challenging light, but you handled it perfectly. Agree with others about the head being a touch soft. Not sure if this was full frame, if yes, it might just be based on where you had your focus point and your DOF decision. If this was full frame, I might have stopped down to at least 7.1 but more than likely f/8 to make sure I had enough DOF.

Nice wood duck shot in tough light.  A little different to see on a brown water body.  Must have been raining prior to the photo.  I like it because it's different.  Yes the head is a little soft but it still looks nice.

Woodies are always a joy to catch.
Great colours, fine detail, and something-other-then-blue water that is very complimentary.
Love it!
