The shore bird experts are welcome to correct the ID if I blew it, but I couldn't reconcile the white area behind the legs with anything else.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/8, 1/1000, iso 640, manual exposure.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 13.7 MP before resizing.  Taken April 13th at 8:16 AM at Padre Island National Seashore.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Been lots of these at long beach. I think your id is correct. Nice close up with great leg position and excellent background.

Would agree with your ID.  Good detail and I like the leg pose.

Dennis, you're correct on the I.D., typical resting pose of the leg position.  Looks like transitional breeding plumage.  Sibley's shows the distinctive white behind the legs.

Nice image of a Black-bellied Plover. I would see them as migrants in NJ every year, but here in AZ they are quite rare and I've only seen a few in 24 years now.

HI Dennis
Thank you the photograph of this Black-bellied Plover.  I have never seen a Plover like that.
Nice work

Nice pose here, and fine detail.
I'd suggest darkening the BG a bit to make the bird pop.
Fine image!
