Providing the proverbial sex education lesson.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/8, 1/500, iso 1000, aperture priority, pattern metering, + 1/3 EV.  I should have used even more positive compensation as I had to raise the brightness about a stop in processing.   Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 14.7 MP before resizing.  Taken at 6:16 AM this morning.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Dennis, fully agree with your own critique, probably +1EV, did you not have time to check the Histogram? Nice timing and well framed. There are some tricks you can do certainly on the 1DX (and MKII) in PP here, but if the 7DMKII is similar to it's predecessor then noise will be an issue sadly.

Great catch, and a nice perspective on their behavior.
The shadow tool might help to bring out a little of the darker areas, and a touch of Viveza, if you have it (now free) would bring out more detail in the feathers.

Fine image!

I think you did the best you could  with your processing  based on your approach.  On my large monitor and in a dark room, it looks pretty good although it could be a tad brighter.  Right now the swallows around my house are in perpetual motion and never seem to stop flying.
