Dreamy Dogwood (+BW alt)

The local metroparks has some dogwoods planted on a hillside below a road. This gave me an opportunity to shoot dogwood blossoms at eye level and use the bg blooms as a wash. I shot these shortly after they first bloomed, hence the yellow cast. D600, 150 sigma f2.8 macro @ 3.8, 1/1250, iso 200, hh, single image, natural light and bg. Suggestions and other comments welcome.

And here is an alternate B&W version.

The color version is a very nice photo Scott, but the B&W is fantastic, it seems to pop out at you.

Hi Scott, I agree with Wayne, the B&W version is splendid. I love the photo. eye catching stamens in a full soft image.

Such lovely colors with sharpness in just the right place. Very nicely done and seen. I think the color version works much better than the B and W.

Color for me, Scott.  I think you could lighten up the B&W just a bit.  I think they are both excellent!  I do prefer the color version, and the soft feeling of the color version.  Very pretty photos!

Nice perspective to see the center of the bloom. Love the colours and wash.

My choice is definitely the colored version. The soft olive pastel lends itself well to the dappled BG and shallow focus. Super good!devil

The dogwood petals can sometimes be harshly textured and I like how you've softened everything bar the centre of the main flower, Scott.  Neat balance to the composition.  The b&w version is nice, though I wonder about a touch more contrast for my taste.

Scott: I'll take one of each, thank you very much. I really don't have a preference and that's saying a lot since I'm an avowed color junkie but the B&W is superbly rendered. Many thumbs up! >=))>

Scott, I prefer the color version. Wonderful mix of the sharp center of the bloom and the dreamy softness all around. I especially like the pale yellow cast in the image. Very pleasing to view.
