Spring comes back
by Bo Chen
I experimented a technique just learned. Bracketed a few exposures, shot an image just exposed for the sun, and then blocked the sun using my hand to avoid lens flare. Blended these images in post-processing.
Back lighting images are usually less contrasted. However, the new technique seems to make an image closer to what I saw.
What do you think?
Thanks

6 commentsI'm not sure if it's the blend/processing or not, but the clouds directly above the sun don't seem right. They're more foggy/diffused on the left, and transition directly to the more distance regular clouds to the right. I'm guessing some amount of time passed between the various images. I'd see if you could work on that. Otherwise, you did an excellent job capturing what one might expect to see had they been standing there.

I used to think that it has to be a well-known vista point to shoot beautiful landscape. And I was wrong. This place is not a hot spot (at least not in spring, fall, and winter). But one can look and see and shoot the beauty of nature there.
Lon, you have good eyes and you looked at the image carefully. Here is the original one I used to blend with other exposures. It looks to me not too much difference. It was just how the clouds looked like. But I am sure you are experienced with multiple exposure and blending. The moving objects such as trees in wind, grass, flowers, clouds, would be something we need to pay attention to. This is where manual blending comes handy. We can choose what to blend.
Thanks
